چکیده
Although no enzymatic function has been attributed to CRP, a recent study by Hokama et a!. (10) demonstrated the occur rence of common antigenic components in purified prepara tions of CR2 and human liver and erythrocyte catalases. Since antigenic similarities exist between CRP and catalases, the logical contention would be to assess concurrently the relationship of CR2 and liver catalase in animals under experi mentally controlled conditions. The data to be presented, in essence, are the results of such examinations. The data show the interrelationship between CxRP and liver catalase activity in rabbits and mice following administration of a catalase in hibitor (AT) and nonspecific inflammatory agents. Additionally, immunologic, electrophoretic, and tryptic pep tide maps of CR2 and liver catalase are presented to indicate their remarkable similarities.

Introduction: Metabolic syndrome is a common clinical anomaly, with an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular risk factors. Increased inflammatory mediators, such as reactive protein,as well as the inflammatory cytokines can be associated with the incidence and progression of metaboli syndrome and type 2 diabetes. Materials & Methods: This study was performed on 35 m...

Abstract Background: Childhood leukemia, the most common type of cancer in children and teens, is a cancer of the white blood cells. As antioxidants can promote immune system against all types of cancer, the aim of this study was to explore the metabolic regulation and anti-oxidative effect of sesquiterpen-rich extract of Ferula Asafoetida (FA) on children with leukemia. Materials and Met...
متن کاملAntioxidant Enzymes and Acute Phase Proteins Correlate with Marker of Lipid Peroxide in Adult Nigerian Sickle Cell Disease Patients
Objective(s) Sickle cell disease is a genetic disorder characterized by chronic haemolytic anaemia. Haemoglobin S containing red blood cells may be susceptible to oxidative stress due to imbalance between production of reactive oxygen species and the countering effect of the various antioxidants present in the body. Materials and Methods We evaluated some antioxidant enzymes which include gl...
